I have to say that there is simply no amount of lying low you can do to prevent the distributed right wing media apparatus from making you a "Greta" or an "AOC" if one of the muckity-mucks decides you're the target for today (or the month, or the year, or forever).
If right wingers (and, some Democrats, to their discredit) weren't making national hay out of Mamdani's victory, advising him to stay local would make more sense. I don't think there's one correct way to deal with the right's media attack strategy. Mamdani seems to be doing OK so far.
Basically, he wants to create confusion. His power does not depend on the mass so he does not think much about appeasing us. In China and Russia, they are watching his every word.
I guess a purpose is to send some cryptic messages to his lower-ranked supporters: "We" don't support Trump and the populists because they have some kind of merits on their own. "We" just need the disruption that will make it easier to change the system. "We" don't hate education, the populists do, but "we" can only do something about that later...
Basically, a public interview like this will always be limited, especially at this time.
He does not have space to discuss the German and European thinkers he loves so much. He has never cared as much about the US's history or thinkers.
He cannot share with us his strategy against the China-Russia-Iran axis, as his power is not granted through elections. He won't explain why European countries are opening their military, customs, police and healthcare to him, and in many cases treat dealings with him as top secrets that cannot be explained to the public. Recently in Denmark, the public asked the very sensible question that is, why are we allowing Thiel in, while his company Pronomos is threatening Greenland. The Justice Minister said, "There is no problem", and that was it.
And certainly he mentioned Elon Musk as if this guy was some kind of best buddy - the buddy he has never brought with him to Bilderberg (he's a member of the steering committee - he can invite) or Davos (Palantir is a partner of the WEF) . It should be Altman, Karp, Luckey, Wang, Harrington, Kratsios, but he would never share with us what he usually discusses with those people.... Or Danzeisen, who is carrying the Asia-Pacific/China "theater" (soon, it will probably become a true military theater) for him.
You guys did what you accuse the right-wingers of doing. You defaulted to cartoon charecterizing them. "racism" . Of course, of course you had to throw that in there. It's so tired. I get Greta Tumberg should not overly excite anyone. Yes I also get that Mamdani is handsome and pleasant. But his ideas are garbage! Tax white neighborhoods more (what all good lefties do - hyper racialize everything), defund the police, rent controls.

Zorie Mamdanovich is not only a Menshevik, but also a Bundist.
