I've occasionally entertained myself with wasting the time of scammers like these. One happened to develop into a rather complicated love triangle between me as "Tony," the scammer as my former fiancée, and another scammer named "Brian." Knowing that these scammers are typically beaten for poor performance makes me question doing this in the future, though...

I wish I got actual scammers sending me this stuff. Mine are all terrible AI generated stuff and makes the back and forth less satisfying.

Yeah I mean, it’s kind of like a free iPhone game though, isn’t it? Like the ‘oh wrong number game’ where you try not to get scammed. Maybe you ask them to send you a Target gift card, flip the script.

An episode of Search Engine covered this in March, I left it with the big question of what to do with these texts? I used to kind of play along, but I feel like I can’t knowing most of the people behind the texts are victims of human trafficking. https://overcast.fm/+ABBVQTNOfOg

I was messaged on LinkedIn with what seemed like a legitimate request for connection, but when he wanted to move it to Whatsapp, it devolved into a romance scam. Seems like other redditors have posted about the same thing. I was just surprised it was through a supposed professional social site. Also disappointing.
