It is notable that a non-insignificant amount of the GOP's base are the 'petit-bourgeoisie', such as local dentists, realtors, car salesmen, etc. It's more likely than 'multi-billionaires', it's all extremely petty grievance politics for whatever psycho-social reasons.

A lot of Trump's politics seem to be driven by similar grievance. Such as his obsession with losing the Piano from Casablanca to a Japanese firm in the 80s, his neurosis and hatred about energy and water efficient shower heads, etc.

I think it's best to understand Trump as simultaneous self styled smart businessman (like a lot of the petit bougies), conspiracy theorist, and scam artist who is basically a lot of the GOP base scaled up.

I've been thinking something more like "The Republicans are the party of a petit-bourgeoisie who genuinely believe themselves to be business geniuses and that the only reason they're not multi-billionaires already is because 'Elites' are keeping us from a truly Free Market," but the financialization/speculation aspect adds an interesting wrinkle

The nice thing about the speculation angle is it's not really exclusive to more direct class-interest explanations—it's a logic that's kind of forced on a person (or drawn out of a person) based on their position in class structure, social hierarchies, global trade flows, etc...

It seems to me that those around him have a preferred outcome that so far Trump seems to be working towards: https://youtu.be/1ts5wJ6OfzA?si=B5BliFPmfGkHMjH9

I’m not going to say this plan isn’t flawed, and maybe it’s impossible.

But the plan suggested in the link incorporates all the elements the quote by Joe Wiesenthal above seems to view as totally separate and inconsistent issues. I find it really strange that smart people appear to be refusing to comprehend Trump’s plan, that there’s this push to mystify it.

Is it possible maybe that the “Resistance” has spent so long calling Trump a lunatic that they’ve become incurious about the goals of the people he has surrounded himself with? (Which in this case would give Democrats a fairly clear picture of what is going on)

Again, this plan is probably terribly flawed, I’m not an economist, and it hinges on negotiating skills I would wager Trump does not possess.

But I think there’s something strange about everyone being confused about the plan. It’s not a secret.

(It’s worth noting that that video went up prior to the tariffs being reverted… but it predicted the tariffs being reverted)

America just drifting (actively sailing?) more and more towards full-on Fuhrerprinzip as the basis for all decision-making.

TRump 2.0 is definitely pyramidal in nature, with power and responsibility flowing upward to a solitarily occupied apex, and unconditional authority directed downward to regimented organs of state, thence to the masses. Step out of line...gone, no redress, no appeal.

Do you think there’s a chance Trump is attempting to reward those who follow his every word?

I don’t. That would imply that Trump cares about other people and that he knew what the outcomes of all this craziness would be. Neither ring true for me.
