Greetings from Read Max HQ! As longtime readers know, every week I recommend a list of books, articles, movies, videos, music, and other dumb bullshit, new and old, that I think readers might like.
Since over the last few weeks I’ve mostly been consuming stuff about the twin meltdowns at the heart of the Read Max universe -- Twitter and FTX -- I’ve been using this space to recommend informative or entertaining writing about the two companies. (You can read my FTX recommended-reading here, and my Twitter recommended reading here.) So, why not do it again? Below, some of what I’ve been reading to try to understand FTX and Twitter.
Just a reminder: These roundups are for paying subscribers. I don’t take advertising; I don’t have corporate sponsors; I am unlikely to be able to borrow billions of dollars from investment banks at preferred rates. Reader subscriptions allow me to keep explaining the future. If you like this newsletter, why not spend around the price of a beer a month to support it?
Let’s get to the roundup.
